SUMMER ON THE RANCH IS WINDING DOWN

Well, It has been a long long time since I have last entered a blog and so much has happened..

Both of the Kids worked all summer as Flagger's on highway projects across the State of Colorado and Camped out in their tents the entire time.  Only to come home on Weekends for showers and washing their clothes..

Now Dorothy is back in School at Western State College in Gunnison, her 3rd year in College Going for a degree in Forensic Anthropology..

Virgil is still working as a Flagger somewhere near Rifle CO, and he comes home every couple of weeks now..

Just yesterday here on the Ranch our Mountains got their first big SNOW of the year, and we got a nice steady rainfall.

Just this past week we got the last of the Hay put up for the year out of our field and still looking to buy some more hay to get us by for the rest of the winter.  Goats were sold about a month ago and next week I am taking a load of Calves and some older cows to the Sale, We are having to cut our herds down drastically because of the Drought that we are still in..  Every little bit of rain and snow we get we are very grateful for..  Just always PRAYING for more more more...  At least my chickens are still laying eggs and that is a blessing!!

Our Freezers are almost empty, it is a good thing that Hunting season is less than a month away, but that is scary too.. We still  have not seen any deer on our place YET and we have 2 doe tags for our property here, plus 2 buck tags and 4 Elk tags all to get filled...  That is the only meat we eat all winter long, so when the freezers are bare that gets really scary..

The days are getting shorter and the Nights are getting longer, and the first day of fall is this coming weekend..YIKES!!  The days are also finally starting to cool down.. We had a few days of 100 degree heat, that is way too fricking hot here in the mountains!!  I have posted some pictures of our snow that we got.. Just hope that we get a lot more SNOW this winter.. We need it!!
